Get to know me!
About Me
Hello, I'm Parker Lauders, a student studying computer engineering technology. My degree fuels my passion for all things technology and my love for new innovations. I'd like to invite you to join me on my journey through both school and work. I'm all about exploring the exciting world of computer technology, from the latest software to the cutting-edge gadgets. In school, I'm learning valuable knowledge which eagers me to apply that knowledge in real-world situations. When I enter the workforce, I'm ready to dive into the world of technology and help create amazing things and solve big challenges. So, let's embark on this adventure through the technology landscape together, where we'll learn, grow, and come up with innovation ideas!
Skills
My skills span a wide range of technologies. I am proficient in programming languages such as Python and C/C++, and am familiar with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion360, SolidWorks, and EAGLE CAD. In addition, I have hands-on experience with development tools like Visual Studio Code, Git version control, and the Arduino IDE, which enhances my ability to bring ideas to life.
Certifications
I am currently certified in:
- Rockwell Automation Level 1 (April 2021)
- FANUC Basic Programming, Setup and Operation (May 2021)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (April 2022)
- Engineering and Design through Southern Hills Career & Technical Center (May 2022)
Academics
My dedication to academic excellence has earned me Dean's List (Spring 2023) and President's List (Fall 2023) honors, reflecting my commitment to excellence that extends beyond the classroom.
One of the most exciting aspects in my academic journey is my role as the lead student researcher in a university-funded project. Our ambitious mission is to create an AI-powered swim instructor assistant, capable of providing swimmers with comprehensive performance analytics and actionable insights. In addition to acquiring necessities such as the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit, I have been heavily involved in the design and build of the entire system. Our goal is to achieve this technological milestone by December 2024, and each day brings us one step closer to achieving this vision of ours. This hands-on experience allows me to explore the evolution of AI technology and its transformative capabilities in the real world.
In addition to research, I proudly work as a supplemental instructor (SI) for electronics core courses (Digital Fundamentals (DC), Digital Fundamentals (AC), and Electronics). I actively help enhance the learning experience for my tutees, whether it's guiding them through labs, giving engaging lectures, or providing individual tutoring during time outside of the classroom. Seeing tutees grow academically is a source of great pride and inspiration.
My passion doesn't stop outside the classroom! I am a proud member and recently elected Vice President of our school's IEEE Chapter. When I'm not involved in the technical world, you can find me on the men's bowling team, where I embrace teamwork, discipline and competitive passion.
Future Goals
Looking ahead, my career aspirations are focused on computer engineering, specifically focusing on embedded systems design and programming. I am eager to use my skills and knowledge to create innovative solutions that leave a lasting impact on the world.
